Life is going by so very quickly. My little Thor is three months and Beatrice is three years and three months. Insanity. This week was my first week of having a babysitter help me get some writing/editing done. It was nice t have three hours straight to work during the day. I am most productive in the morning, so it worked well. As you can imagine, I didn't get much done. But some good things happened this week, one of my Etsy paintings made it to a treasury. I Carry Your Heart. And the bonus is that it sold. YAY! And for those who don't know, and who would, really, because I didn't tell many people, I was asked to write an essay for a book by women who have had a stillborn child. I am joining many amazing writers and bloggers and artists (Kara, aka, Mother Henna amongst them.) This week, the publisher finally posted the book on the website, and it is listed on Amazon. They Were Still Born.

I did manage to do some paintings this week. I was really interested in trying some painting and mixed media techniques and play with some images. So I did some mini-paintings on canvas board. They are layers upon layers of stuff I tried. It was fun. I did them thinking of my daughter Lucy. One is called You are my sunshine and the other is called Please Don't Take my Sunshine Away. The You are my sunshine one was originally a jizo painting and the jizo is under the collaged paper, which is actually kite making paper I found online. I just wanted to see what that looked like layered.

Painting my children makes me happy. Beezus always wants me to paint her, so here are some Bee pictures. I am not crazy about the last one, but playing with some techniques. Pulled out my markers for the large Bee-girl one. I did paint one, which was stunning, and went to ink it. It was wet and the ink blurred the entire face. It was so disappointing and stupid. I really should consider a second cup of coffee in the afternoon. The top one I drew and left on white marker paper, then when I went to sharpen the picture in my photoediting program, there was an antique film setting. I clicked it and thought it looked pretty cool. I also liked it sepia, ut kind of defeats the purpose of the color markers, though it does make me want to do some sepia drawings.

So the past two days I painted a few ATCS. Two of which were for ripple. I only submitted one, because I didn't like the second one. It is a good cause, anyhow. So here is the one I submitted. It is only ten dollars donated to a good cause, helping the marine animals and birds affected by the oil spill. And then you get a mini-piece of art. I bought one and painted one, and so should you.

And then here is a little sketch/watercolor I did also ATC size. I am an identical twin. I am also writing, or trying to begin the process of thinking about writing, a children's book with my sister about being an identical twin. It really is an opposite book. Ha. Anyway, I keep doing little sketches of her and I trying to master us looking exactly the same in face, even though our hair is different. It is hard to do that in sketch. When we were in second grade, my identical twin declared that she no longer wanted to be a twin, so she chopped her hair off, and changed her birthday. It was hurtful. But now, when I draw twin skteches, we always have different length hair.

Yeah, I have been doing more stuff this just this this week, but this is all I managed to photograph. I signed up to do the 21.5.800 challenge which is 21 days of 800 words of writing a day and yoga five times a week. It is awkward to explain, but it has been good to focus on writing and movement. Right now, I have more to write about than time. I always want to write. Always. And I could always sit down and write.I bought a pre-stretched canvas that is four feet by two feet. After all the little ATCs (which I am totally addicted to), I am intimidated by the large canvas. I am planning in my head. And very excited about it.

For some reason, I felt compelled to paint this little horrified person. I love her. I don't know why. She is also ATC size, and painted in acrylic. I also bought a buttload of origami paper yesterday, so I am having fun with that.

Beezus and I went to the craft store today and got our art on. It was fun. She has two paintbrushes and two glitter glue sticks, and is using bits of origami paper willy nilly.

As I took pictures of her, she declared she was done, stood up and begged for the camera for her artwork photos. I love how each paint color gets its own brush.


































We have an art room, but somehow we have been ending up on the kitchen table again. Perhaps because Thor is sleeping on his swing there and we can listen to the Barber of Seville while we paint in the dining room. We do love opera. Oh, and here is the some of the work I did today.
